VIRTUAL TRAINING DEPARTMENT

Many small and medium-sized manufacturing firms have the need to provide competency-based training for their skill workers, and sometimes their customers, but are unable to justify the cost of a full-time training manager and training staff. In many cases, responsibility for coordinating training is given to someone who has no background in instructional design or training management as an addition to their regular job. As you can see from the list below, the duties of a training manager and training staff are very involved. These are the kinds of tasks that Topaz instructional design/development specialists are equipped to perform for clients:

Identify your training needs
Perform job task analysis to establish objectives for each job skill
Develop an overall training plan
Outline required training courses
Locate suitable off-the-shelf training materials
Develop print and/or web-based content to support knowledge training
Develop instructor support materials such as slide presentations and video
Train in-house trainers
Plan and schedule hands-on performance testing
Evaluate courses to identify needed improvements
Provide and maintain a LAN- or Web-based learning management system to track the training status of employees and give them access to self-study materials.
Periodically reevaluate the training plan
Participate in staff meetings where training is an issue

If your company is in this situation, or if you are the person who has responsibility for training in addition to a full-time job, check us out.
